The Hunt for Hemingway (Media Coverage)
Author(s): A. Scott Berg
Publication: VANITY FAIR
Date: 10/1/2011
Abstract: Fourteen-page illustrated spread, featuring a narrative by Pulitzer prize winning biographer A. Scott Berg concerning efforts by a small group of North Americans, including general editor Sandra Spanier, to see the cache of Hemingway's documents, including his letters, at his home in Cuba (now a national museum) in 2002. Berg's narrative celebrates the launch of the Cambridge Edition of THE LETTERS OF ERNEST HEMINGWAY and serves as introduction to a selection of 7 previously unpublished letters, presented in full text, from volume 1 (1907-1922). Story appears in the U.S., U.K., and iPad editions of VANITY FAIR. The magazine negotiated first serial rights with Cambridge and, in the interests of maintaining exclusivity of coverage upon the book's 20 September release, requested a news embargo on other major news pieces until the issue is off the newsstands in mid-October 2011.
