St. John's College, Main Campus (Annapolis, MD 21401-1687)
Robert B. Williamson (Project Director: August 1973 to present)

Preparation of an Introductory Textbook of Attic Greek

St. John's College proposes to develop a new kind of introductory textbook of Attic Greek designed for students of the humanities. A new type of textbook is required which would enable the student to appreciate the subtle nuances of the Greek original which are often lost in translation. The empahsis will be upon the student's ability to construct on his or her own the various grammatical rules and forms of classical Greek before being exposed to the traditional schemes and paradigms. Such a textbook will not only be useful for students at St. John's college but would also be of great value to any college and university where the humanities are taught.
