Problems in the Study of Religion

A three-week institute for twenty-five college and university faculty to pursue religion as a subject of humanistic inquiry.

This 3-week institute provides a platform of learning and exchange that will equip university teachers in a variety of fields with the methodological tools to pursue "religion" as a subject of humanistic inquiry. As our modern, globalized world has become increasingly defined by religious identities and systems, the study of "religion" is now an indispensable player in the understanding of diverse manifestations of human belief and practice. Through daily seminars, discussion meetings, pedagogy workshops, and participant-led workshops, this seminar will introduce its 25 participants to the historical context, modes of inquiry, and pedagogical opportunities for engaging "the study of religion" in their respective fields.
