TV Programs on Art Appreciation

Six 45-minute color T.V. programs on art appreciation produced in cooperation with the Museum Education Division of the Art Institute of Chicago. ABSTRACT: TV Collect of Chicago City College to produce, in cooperation with Museum Education Division of Art Institute of Chicago, six 45-minute color TV programs on art appreciation. Besides forming part of a previously recorded telecourse in general humanities, each program designed as self-contained unit to be of interest to general Education TV audience and useful in high school and college classrooms as supplement to instruction in fine or comparative arts. Provides instructional tool for high school and college teacher. Color reproductions of original paintings from permanent collection of Art Institute accompanied by narration tracing relation of constituent elements to finished work. Gives students clear idea of period, individual style, interrelatedness of painting, sculpture, architecture. Schools and students outside major population and cultural centers have little access to original works, little opportunity to tour major museums. TV medium utilized to convey fine arts into classroom and living room.
