ABSTRACT: Project establishes interdisciplinary, inter-institutional Colloquium for Philosophy of Education in Boston area. Participating institutions Boston University and Harvard; plans to include Boston College, Brown University, Brandeis University and representative teachers' colleges in area. Colloquium to meet ten times yearly; hear, discuss paper. Topics: nature of learning, learning techniques, relation of social and ethical considerations to educations, relevant issues in psychology, linguistics, social sciences. Overcomes entrenched institutional barriers (i.e., colleges of liberal arts vs. colleges or departments of education). As education becomes increasingly important and as techniques are developed to influence minds and characters of students educators bear heavy ethical responsibility. Too often students in education graduate without touching on these problems, while students in philosophy of education graduate (and often obtain doctorates) without any actual teaching experience. Colloquium to provide meeting ground for practical problems of education and ethical/normative considerations of philosophy. PUBLICITY: Sunday Herald Traveler (Boston), March 7, 1970
