A Foreign Language Curriculum Model for Minority Colleges: an Ethnic Approach
The Department of Modern Foreign Languages at Hampton Institute will develop curricula in French, Spanish and Portuguese based on the negritude concept. French and Spanish courses offerings will be revitalized through the introduction of Afro-Hispanic and Afro-French literatures and cultures of the Caribbean and Africa. Hampton Institute, a predominantly black liberal arts college anticipates that this new program will establish a linkage for its students with French-Spanish-Portuguese-speaking black peoples of the world.
