Children in America

To design and install an exhibition entitled CHILDREN IN AMERICA, to be open to the public and used in Museum school tours throughout the 1978-79 academic year. The exhibition, its catalogue and program of events, which will seek to promote an understanding of what it was like to be a child in other times, will represent major contributions to the new field of the history of Childhood, and to the use of children's portraits as documents of scholarly study. It will be organized in "environments" representing different periods of American History. Atlanta public school teachers will be offered a course to prepare them to use the exhibition.
