Learning and Teaching Asian Culture through Theater: Interdisciplinary Humanities Workshop Series on Asian Theater
Two three-day workshops for twenty-five undergraduate faculty in Asian theater, focusing on Japanese, Indonesian, and Indian dramatic traditions.
The project focuses on the interdisciplinary study of classical Asian theaters as a unique avenue through which to gain an intimate understanding of Asian culture and history. Two weekend workshops are designed to build basic knowledge of Asian theater and encourage participants to incorporate Asian theater studies in their curricular offerings at two- and four-year undergraduate institutions. It aims to provide a high-quality intellecutal program for undergraduate teaching faculty in the Southwestern region of the United States who would like to expand their intellectual horizen by incorporating signficant Asian contents in their humanities courses.
