Britain and Early Banking Theory and Practice in the United States

To study the transfer of banking theories and practices from Britain to America during the late 18th and early 19th century, and to examine the directions of early American banking development and the contributions of this development to the American economy and society in the decades following independence. The study will show the relationships between the views held by theorists in a more developed country, and the realities faced in the less developed U.S. between 1780-1840.
