Bill of Rights, 1689

To examine the Bill of Rights of 1689, the statutory form of the Declaration of Rights accepted by Prince William of Orange when he also received the crown of England. The study has three major purposes: 1) to examine the political, partisan, ideological, and personal origins of the Declaration of Rights; 2) to trace the passage of the Declaration through the Convention Parliament; and 3) to determine the significance of the Bill of Rights in 18th Century England and in the American colonies.
