The Changing Relationship Between Music and Poetry in France During in the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance
To study the changing relationship between secular music and vernacular poetry in France during the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. To be considered are the works of Machaut; the chansons of Dyfay and Binchois; Josquin des Prez’s settings of the Rhetoriqueurs and of popular songs; settings of Marot's poetry; and the musical repertory surrounding the Pleiade poets.
