The Individual Voter and the Growth of Modern Politics in Revolutionary Rhode Island

This is a study of political structure, party formation, and political change in Rhode Island between 1760 and 1818, centering on the behavior of individual voters, their voting decisions, and their participation in party activities. The core sources are voting lists compiled in the towns at each election that show who voted, and which candidates they voted for, thus making possible detailed research into political behavior.
