Translation of Heidegger's Lecture Cycles "Insight Into That Which Is" (1949) and "The Principles of Thinking" (1957)
Heidegger's 1949 lecture cycle, "Insight Into That Which Is," and 1957 lecture series, "The Principles of Thinking," are central pillars of Heidegger's later philosophy exploring the two aspects of Heidegger's thinking most alive in philosophical debate today: his views on technology and language. First published in German in 1994, my translation of this volume will provide an English-speaking audience access to Heidegger's most detailed, sustained, and striking analysis of contemporary technology ("Insight"), and to his most exacting confrontation with the philosophical foundations of logical thinking and the role of language within philosophy and poetry ("Principles"). "Insight" will be of immediate interest to scholars in the philosophy of science/technology, environmental philosophy, and globalization studies. "Principles" is key for understanding Heidegger's conception of identity as relationality and is of inherent interdisciplinary interest.
