Kinship and Caste in Ancient India

To examine the functions of kinship and caste in ancient India as revealed in Sanskrit text, inscriptions and coins. The study is an attempt to chart and analyze a cultural function as seen through the eyes of the people of that culture instead of composing a foreign cultural framework upon the analysis.
