Hegel and the Intellectual Legacy of Edmund Burke

To examine the ideas of George W.F. Hegel in relationship to the ideas of Edmund Burke. Since Hegel is often considered the turning point for modern poltical thinking, having influenced Marx, the Oxford Idealist and Italian fascists, and since Burke is considered the progenitor of modern conservatism, Hegel's affinities and dissimilitudes with Burke are important to ascertain. The study will be topically arranged according to these headings: Historical Background; Is Man by Nature Social?; The Historical Model of Man; Freedom and History; Progress and History.
