Analogy in the Prose Imagery of Newman's Sermons

To complete the preparation of the manuscript, Analogy in the Prose Imagery of Newman's Sermons. Study is threefold: 1) analysis of Newman's literary theory in relation to his view of knowledge as experimental, developmental, and integrative; 2) tracing the analogical principles of this thoughts as constructive of his views of conscience, certitude, belief, tradition, consciousness, and imagination; and 3) examination of analogy as a linguistic principle structuring Newman's prose. In addition to the manuscript, two monographs will be developed one from a central portion of the original study, that deals with an unpublished essay of Newman's; another comparing and contrasting the prose style of Newman and Luther in their sermons.
