The Mississippi People Through Depression and War: A Social History

To study the Mississippi River area of the 1930s and '40s to determine to what extent culture of economic depression and physical isolation influenced values across racial lines. Preliminary background reading will involve the impact the depression, the New Deal and World War II had on life in the Deep South.
