Skepticism and Rational Acceptance of Beliefs

Study will deal with skepticism, rational acceptance of beliefs, and the rationality of accepting religious beliefs. Many arguments against the rationality of accepting religious beliefs can be properly regarded as skeptical arguments. Various kinds of skeptical arguments work by combining such principles with well-known and widely-accepted facts, e.g., the occurrence of dreams, illusions, hallucinations, etc. Some of the writings to be examined include works by: Pierre Bayle, G.E. Moore, and Keith Lehrer.
