The Agent and Spectator in Psychological Tehory and Practice

To study certain theoretical accounts of the human self in contemporary psychology and to assess the bearing of those accounts on such fundamental issues as (1) the nature of rationality, (2) the viability of a deontological normative ethic, (3) the correct account of human freedom, (4) the contribution of psychological claims to a cumulative metaphysic of action and agency. PI believes that psychological theory is of divided mind as to whether it should be objective (spectator point of view) or subjective (agent point of view).
