The Making of Soviet Central Asia, 1917-1929
This proposal seeks support during 2005-06 for the final stages of THE MAKING OF SOVIET CENTRAL ASIA, 1917-1929, a book on the transformation of Central Asia during the first decade of Soviet rule. The main goals to be achieved during the period of the fellowship consist of final research and writing up. The project is wide ranging and straddles the fields of Soviet history, Islamic studies, and postcolonial studies.
