A Social and Political History of the American Law School

A study of the rise of the American Law School from 1783 to the present. Within the law schools, the study will cover the slow - and erratic - evolution of the law school as part of the changing legal profession and the rise of the modern university. The stratification of law schools will be examined in the light of the economics of both profession and universities. The study will look at changing styles and substance, as well as pressing social issues - from race to student demands. Changing teaching trends and the evolution of jurisprudential styles will complete the study.
