History and Literature in Athens During the Peloponnesian War

To develop techniques and skills for analyzing the relationship between historical and literary events through an examination of political, social, literary and intellectual events and developments in Athens during the Peloponnesian War (432-404 B.C.). Close attention will be paid to the political history and foreign policy of Athens during the period, followed by explorations of literary works such as comedies of Aristophanes and tragedies of Euripides.
