Women and the Concept of the Family in Early Western Civilization

To do research on the subject of the family and its effect on the role of women in early Western civilization. Study will investigate the sources of male attitudes that accounted for the subordination and relative invisibility of women in western history. Many feminist writers blame the nuclear family for holding women back from political, social and economic participation in the total spectrum of western society. This study will connect the issues of the past and the concerns of the present, particularly as applicable to the role women played in relation to the family and in the broad sense of early Western civilization.
