American Opera of the Eighteenth Century
To do research in the field of early American opera. To delve hack (at least to 1735) to find more roots of American opera and unearth neglected music manuscripts of the 18th century. Focus will be on the opera music of Victor Pelissier and several colleagues of his, much of which is assumed to be lost. An attempt would be made to locate and record evidence of all extant opera music by these composers, but attention would be centered on the life and works of Pelissier. At least one opera would be readied for publication.
