Defendants' Rights in American Public Law

To examine the rights of defendants accused of crime in American public law. Participants will examine the historical origins and development, in statute and by court decision, of concepts of various specific rights. Emphasis will also be placed on the practical procedures through which law enforcement officials at a variety of levels apply legislative and judicial rulings.
