The Imaginative Life of Henry Miller and the Villa Seurat Circle in Paris, 1930 to 1940

To study the imaginative life of the group of expatriate writers known as the Villa Seurat Circle in an effort to reach conclusions about the extent to which the life these people collectively created and mutually lived determined the character of their art. The study will examine: 1) the nature and function of literary influence of one individual on another; 2) the influence of literary groups on others; and 3) the nature and meaning of literary expatriation in the twentieth century.
