Philosophical Anthropology

One of the most important developments in recent European philosophy --viz., the emergence outside of the phenomenological, existential, and neo-Marxist movements of a comprehensive "philosophical anthropology"-- remains virtually unknown in the English-speaking world. P.I. will begin by undertaking a program of research and discussion in Germany in 1975, which will result in a book on the subject. Study will have the general objective of exploring the programmatic and methodological characteristics of contemporary European philosophical anthropology, as these relate to and differ from those of certain other influential forms of philosophical and scientific inquiry also concerned with human nature and conduct.
