The Legal Mind in Early American Literature

To analyze the unpublished papers of Joseph Story, James Kent, Daniel Webster, Henry Clay and James Calhoun. All the figures shared an interest in literature which in turn effected the foundation of early legal study in America. The study explores the relationship between law and letters in America during its early years, showing the role of the legal mind in shaping early American Literature and humanistic inquiry.
