The Legal History of Colonial New Jersey, 1664-1776

To research the development of the legal philosophy, legal doctrines, institutions and lawyers of New Jersey 1664 to 1776. The lawmen helped transform New Jersey from a seventeenth century near-feudal society to a modern polity governed by legislative responsive to the popular will.
