Religion and Politics in Amsterdam, 1515-1555

To examine the relationship between religious and political alignments in Amsterdam during the reign of Charles V, principally among the city's ruling elite. Those in power before 1535 tended to be more religiously tolerant than those who replaced them. PI will attempt to determine whether there was a coherent religious policy.
