Cyclic Time in Black Fiction (African, American and Caribbean)

To show the interrelationship of fiction and culture as manifested in the conceptualization of cyclic time in black fiction, an aspect of that fiction which demonstrates a certain underlying continuity of form and theme among black writers of Africa, the United States, and the Caribbean. Cyclic time is central to characterization, narrative structure, and symbolism in black fiction, its use is part of the black writer's affirmation of black heritage.
