Translating Bonaventure's Collationes in Hexaemeron (1273-1274)
My proposal involves completion of a translation of Bonaventure's (d.1274) Collationes in Hexaemeron (Lectures on the Six Days of Creation) to be included in the Bonaventure Texts in Translation Series published by the Franciscan Institute. Specifically, the grant would allow me to finish the first phase of the project: a complete translation (August 2003). To date, I have translated eight of the twenty-two collations. The 2003 summer will provide sufficient time to translate the remaining fifteen collations. Phase two involves finishing the text’s critical apparatus and indexes (August 2004), and phase three concludes the project with a critical introduction (August 2005). The whole project is to be published in the summer of 2006.
