Partisanship, Propaganda, and Profit: The Adverstising Council Goes to War, 1941-1945

_Partisanship, Propaganda, and Profit_ will examine the domestic propaganda activities of the War Advertising Council (WAC) during World War II. Using a historical-critical approach, the book will argue that the Council's operations worked to constitute a war-time version America by creating a new form of propaganda, called _propaganda by proxy_. In this unprecedented activity, WAC served as an intermediary between the government and the home front, thus bypassing acute public suspicion of official propaganda. The book examines WAC's private agenda as well as its public propaganda, concluding with an assessment of the legacis of the largest propaganda campaign of the war.
