Messengers of God: Alinesitoue and the History of a Diola Prophetic Tradition in West Africa
I will conduct one month of field research and the remaining two months completing a book manuscript on the history of an indigenous West African tradition of prophetic revelation from the Diola supreme being. Initially an all-male phenomena, it has become, since the French conquest of Senegal, a predominantly female prophetic tradition with over fifty different people claiming to be prophets.
