Learning by Doing: Using Digital Filmmaking to Study and Analyze Literature and Film
I am applying for an NEH Teaching Development Fellowship to redesign my Hispanic Issues in Cinema class to teach students how to use digital filmmaking as a way to study, analyze and understand the art of story telling and narrative techniques in literature and film. This class will be a hands-on experience that will involve students in creating a film adaptation of literature as a way to fully engage and apply the techniques of storytelling and narrative techniques. This interactive learning experience will allow students to come to a deeper appreciation of the complexity of narrative techniques used in literature and film. They will learn by doing.
