Regional seminars for historical society and museum training

Project to hold three seminars in publications, historical administration and history museums designed to help fill increasing need for qualified historical society, museum personnel. ABSTRACT: Project to hold three seminars: 1) Publications (historical society and museum publications); 2) Historical Administration (historical, archeological and architectural research; trustee and staff relations; publications; museum operation; libraries and archives; finance and fund-raising; reaching public through education programs; 3) History Museum (teaching of history through the collection, display and interpretation of museum artifacts and historic structures). Seminars are concentrated, short-term (one to two-week) sessions intended to bring a faculty of acknowledged leaders in the field of historical agency work to a student body made up of professional directors of small but promising historical societies and beginning professionals from other agencies, who are not able to take time from professional duties to attend longer programs of training elsewhere. Seminars to be held in various regions in the U.S., designed to help fill the increasing need for qualified historical society, museum personnel. Program in effect for three years. Highly successful, great demand for "graduates."
