An Archeological Survey and Photographic Exhibit of Southwest Indian Rock Art
Rock art resources at Capitol Reef National Park, Utah will be examined as a source of cultural significance and as an expressive unit of American Indian lifestyles. Study will combine the humanities with archaeological survey methods to produce a humanistic analysis of rock motifs, especially Katchina-type ceremonial figures which suggest parallels in Hopi/Zuni ceremonial costumes, and to establish an archaeological type reference index for Capitol Reef rock sites and an exhibition for display at park headquarters and elsewhere.
