References to Spanish Baroque Theater in the Royal Palace Archives
I propose to conduct research at Royal Palace Archive in Madrid and at the Archivo General in Simancas, searching through forthy-six years of records for the Queens’ Households to identify, document, and catalog references to theatrical performances in royal venues from 1598 through 1644. I expect to produce a catalog that will register titles, authors when possible, dates of performances, dates of payments, and names of payees. I shall cross-reference entries with other bibliographical sources whenever possible.
