E Pluribus Unum?: Missouri and the Fractured Society

Implementation of a public forum, a traveling exhibition, and year-long, state-wide series of public programs examining the history of cultural and social polarization in Missouri.

This project unites 8 partner organizations across the state of Missouri to address the issue of cultural polarization in Missouri. With historical understanding and humanities scholarship, E Pluribus Unum?: Missouri and the Fractured Society will engage the Missouri public with issues relevant to their communities and contribute to new forms of understanding and community engagement. The project will feature a kick-off symposium at the Missouri History Museum followed by public programs in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia, Missouri. These public programs will consist of scholar-led discussions and documentary viewings, oral history projects, public media productions, community programs, as well as a traveling exhibition on the project theme which will visit additional locations around the state (primarily state college campuses).
