Upcountry History Museum (Greenville, SC 29601-1906)
Dana L. Thorpe (Project Director: May 2015 to present)
NEH on the Road: Our Lives, Our Stories

After participating in programming related to the exhibit, visitors will merge their previous impressions of the Greatest Generation’s experiences during the Depression and WWII with photos, stories, and artifacts, making history more tangible, relatable, and understandable. Because much of the planned programming related to the exhibit will connect the exhibit to our community in Greenville, visitors will also increase their understanding of how the Greatest Generation lived here in the upcountry of South Carolina. In the past, the Upcountry History Museum – Furman University has hosted programs related to World War II and has recorded oral histories of WWII veterans; the Museum will draw upon this content, but will also focus programming on the depression and the 1950s to ensure that our visitors receive exposure to the exhibit’s full time period.
