NEH on the Road: House and Home

Create humanities programs supplementing the exhibition "House and Home" for tourist and local audiences. Programs may include lectures and panel discussions, tours specifically created for school students, and family programs that connect our audiences to Park City stories and themes of the exhibit "House and Home." These formal and informal gatherings will be designed to appeal to those who have experienced the town's history and newcomers wishing to learn more and connect to the community. One possible local theme that connects to the exhibits exploration of "What makes a house a home?" is Park City's immigrant story. Miners and their families moved from all over the county and the world for low-skilled, well-paying jobs underground. How did these families make a new life here? How did the local community deal with the high demand for transient housing? These issues continue to face the community today with new transient populations who now call Park City "home."
