Humanities Collections Assessment Project
The purchase of environmental monitoring equipment and consultation with a conservator to establish a monitoring program and develop a plan for the storage of collections, which document the agricultural and industrial history of the county.
The Historical Society of Rockland County's Humanities Collection Assessment Project funding will support preliminary planning for the care of the HSRC's humanities collections. We will hire Paul Himmelstein, Partner, Appelbaum & Himmelstein Conservator, New York City, a museum environmental specialist, who will address HSRC's collections management problems. This will be Stage One of a Three Stage project to identify problems and solutions leading to the reconfiguration of HSRC's collections storage space and management.
