Purchase of Storage Furniture to Rehouse Military Miniatures Collection
The purchase of cabinets for the storage of a collection of military miniatures comprised of approximately 6,000 figures organized into regiments that served from the colonial period to 1900.
The Preservation Assistance Grant would support the preservation of Heritage Museums & Gardens’ 6,000 piece collection of military miniatures through the purchase of archival storage furniture. This collection is the first in the museum to undergo a thorough process of inventory, condition assessment and photography, rehousing and records digitization. Through the purchase of four archival-quality cabinets, the museum will not only be able to mitigate detrimental environmental conditions, but, by providing designated and systematic storage for the largest collection in its holdings, will be able to maintain more accurate and secure locations and therefore improved accountability for the objects in years in come.
