Rehousing the Photograph Collection of the Andover Historical Society
The purchase of archival supplies to rehouse a collection of 2,000 photographs and stereopticon views dating from 1840 to the present that document the history and culture of Andover, Massachusetts.
With the proposed Preservation Assistance Grant, the Andover Historical Society will re-house and relocate a portion of its photograph collection. The photograph collection is currently stored in acid-free folders in hanging files and vertical filing cabinets in the Historical Society’s library. If awarded, the Preservation Assistance Grant will purchase appropriately-sized photographic print sleeves and flat and clamshell archival storage boxes to re-house 2,000 of the 15,400 photographs and stereopticon views in the photograph collection.
