Mattress Factory Archives Preservation
The purchase of storage furniture and archival supplies to rehouse a multimedia collection that documents the organization's contemporary art collection and the lives of 250 artists and their works.
The Mattress Factory museum of contemporary art requests $5,000 from the NEH Preservation Assistance Grant program to support purchase of archival storage materials and furniture, especially for electronic and digital media-related materials. For close to 30 years, the Mattress Factory has supported the creation and presentation of new installation art by more than 250 artists, many of whom were leaders in the field of contemporary art. Archival collections amassed during this time are being organized and inventoried by a part-time Archivist. She will use the materials purchased through this grant to rehouse archival items in appropriate storage containers.
