Development of a Collections Storage Plan
Consultation with a preservation professional to develop a plan for improving the storage of collections documenting the history of a Chesapeake Bay community.
SSRHS will prepare a collections storage plan, the most critical priority identified in the recently-completed CAP Survey. Information will be collected through a) on-site assessments (at SSRHS and prospective off-site storage facilities); b) meetings with staff, key board members and volunteers; and c) review of relevant documents. The collected information will be used to identify: appropriate storage procedures and furniture/equipment to house the collections, and a suitable facility to store a portion of the collection off-site. This project will improve care of the collections and make them more accessible for use in exhibits, education, publications and research.
