The Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation: Providing Specialized Graduate Education

Graduate education in the conservation of humanities collections. Support would be provided for partial stipends to ten students over two years as well as honoraria for special guest lecturers.

The Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC) is a Master's level graduate program sponsored jointly by the University of Delaware (UD) and the Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library. With a three-year, intensive, learner-centered curriculum designed to educate and train highly qualified individuals responsible for the care and protection of collections-based cultural heritage, students also gain valuable and practical experience in documentation, analysis, treatment and preventive conservation. This proposal to NEH is requesting $200,000 to support the education and training of nine Masters-level students over a two year period. Grant funds will provide stipends for fellows and honoraria for special guest lectures.
