Expanding Preservation Field Services Across Collections

A preservation field service program that provides assessments, workshops and seminars (in-person and online), technical consultations, and disaster assistance to libraries, archives, and other cultural heritage repositories, predominantly in the Northeast.

In 2016 and 2017, NEDCC will bolster and expand preservation education activities at institutions large and small by delivering collections care information on physical and digital humanities collections to audiences across the United States. With an increased focus on training opportunities related to preservation of audiovisual materials, NEDCC will assist in addressing a growing national need for comprehensive topical information geared towards smaller organizations, while also developing resources covering the closely-related field of digital preservation. Through a coordinated program of workshops, webinars, online courses, conferences, symposia, consultations, assessments, reference services and disaster assistance, as well as publications on the care of collections, NEDCC will continue to help organizations improve their traditional preservation practices while also assisting in the development of preservation knowledge across format types.
