Preservation Assistance for the Ronald V. Mitchell Archives

The hiring of a consultant to conduct the first preservation assessment of the college's archival collection and to provide specialized training for staff of the J.E. Cobb Library in the care of archival collections. Established in 2009, the archive preserves the history of the college and the records of the Baptist Missionary Association. The collection is used by scholars interested in the history of the Baptist religion, the role of women in education, and missionary work in the 19th century.

The Central Baptist College library, J.E. Cobb Library, is seeking funding in the form of a $6,000 grant for an Amigos Library Services consultant to conduct a preservation assessment of the Ronald V. Mitchell archives and to provide preservation training for library staff. The project would begin in February 2011 and last approximately six months.
