Delaware Digital Newspaper Project

The digitization of approximately 100,000 pages of historic Delaware newspapers published between 1836 and 1922 as part of the state's participation in the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP).

The University of Delaware Library, Museums & Press proposes digitizing 100,000 pages of three historically significant Delaware newspaper titles: Middletown Transcript (1923-1963), Labor Herald (1940-1955), and Every Evening, Wilmington Daily Commercial (1904-1920). The master negative microfilm reels for the first two titles are held within the University of Delaware's University Archives and Records Management unit, and duplicates of the master negatives of Every Evening, Wilmington Daily Commercial were purchased from ProQuest. Preliminary copyright research supports the public domain status of all post-1923 content.
